The Yves Rocher Foundation Photo Prize is awarded to a professional photographer wishing to produce a journalistic work on issues related to the environment, the relationship between humans and the Earth, and the major challenges of the ecological transition.

The prize is worth €8,000, endowed by the Yves Rocher Foundation.

To be a professional photojournalist.
Write and speak in French or English.

Send an application file on the WIN platform composed of :

A curriculum vitae.
A letter of motivation from the candidate including a description of his/her photojournalism project (1 page maximum). This letter must not contain any information that could identify the candidate.
A budget estimate for the financing of the photo essay project. NB: In the event that the project's funding is extended to other partners, the applicant must submit the names of these partners to the Yves Rocher Foundation for approval. The Foundation reserves the right not to mention them.
A completed photo essay in black and white or color: between 12 and 20 images maximum (see accepted format).
Possibly scans of publications.
The signed application form.
A copy of an identity document.
A certificate on the honor of exercising the profession of photojournalist.

Format accepted only with the following characteristics:

JPEG format only (TIFF and EPS formats excluded)
IPTC fields filled in (captions and copyright) and pdf of captions - Maximum size per image: 3MB

The image files must be named and numbered in the order in which they will be shown to the jury.

NB: files that do not meet the technical requirements mentioned above will be eliminated from the competition.

To respect the anonymity of the files, no mention of the candidate's identity must be apparent in the images.

THE CONDITIONS

-Article 4-

The jury, made up of personalities from the world of photography and the environment, will meet on Thursday, June 30, 2022, to select the winner of the Prize, which will be announced and awarded during an evening event at the International Festival of Photojournalism "Visa pour l'Image-Perpignan", on September 3, 2022.

The winner of the Award will be awarded the prize money of 8,000 euros in two instalments: half in July 2022 to launch the realization of his or her work and the remaining half during the award ceremony on Saturday, September 3, 2022.

The winner agrees to:

Complete his or her reportage no later than March 30, 2023, so as to allow:

A possible exhibition of his or her work during the Festival Photo de la Gacilly which will take place from June 1, 2022 to September 30, 2023 in La Gacilly (in theory).
A possible presentation of his work in the form of an exhibition or an evening of projection on the occasion of the 35th edition of the International Festival of Photojournalism "Visa pour l'Image" in Perpignan which will take place the first three weeks of September 2023.

2. Not to submit his/her reportage to any other prize, contest or grant before its presentation at the Festival Photo la Gacilly in June 2023.

3. Not to publish the photographs extracted from the work that he/she will have been able to realize thanks to the Prize before its presentation at the International Festival of Photojournalism "Visa pour l'Image Perpignan", in September 2023.

4. To include in publications and in all communications concerning the reportage, the mention: "Prize Winner - Photo Yves Rocher Foundation".

5. Transfer three high definition photographs, free of copyright, to the Yves Rocher Foundation, as well as a portrait of him/her, also free of copyright, for the communication inherent to the Prize.

6. To give three royalty-free photographs to the Yves Rocher Foundation, once his or her work has been completed as part of the Prize, and to provide them with the entirety of his or her reportage produced thanks to the Prize in high definition on CR-ROM or hard disk.

7. To be present in Perpignan (in compliance with the sanitary measures provided for at that time) at the evening screening during the International Photojournalism Festival "Visa pour l'Image-Perpignan" on Saturday, September 3, 2022, the date on which the Prize will be presented to the winner by a representative of the Yves Rocher Foundation.

8. To keep confidential his/her nomination as winner of the Yves Rocher Foundation Photo Award before his/her nomination at the International Photojournalism Festival "Visa pour l'Image Perpignan" on September 3, 2022.

THE JURY

-Article 5-

The jury, made up of personalities from the world of photography and the environment, will award the Prize on the basis of the professional qualities of the candidates, the photographs submitted and the relevance and originality of the project. The jury is sovereign in its decision, which will be made by a majority at the end of the deliberations. Its decision is final.

The jury may decide not to award a prize if it considers that the applications submitted do not justify the awarding of the prize.

RESPONSIBILITY

The Fondation Yves Rocher and Images Évidence expressly reserve the right, if circumstances so require, to cancel at any time and for any reason whatsoever the awarding of the Prize under these rules.

RIGHTS OF THIRD PARTIES

-Article 7-

Participants must ensure themselves and guarantee to the Yves Rocher Foundation that the works they present do not directly or indirectly infringe on the rights of third parties and/or that they have obtained from the latter the necessary authorizations and transfer of exploitation rights on any medium for possible reproductions and/or exhibitions under the conditions of article 4.
